* Star PartyStar Party

The Oak Oasis Star Party is a family event great for astronomers and Earthlings of all sizes. We have a variety of activities all about the night sky. The evening begins with a twilight hike to check out some bats and scorpions while we wait for the stars to arrive. Once we get back to the campground, we begin looking at the stars and planets through telescopes. Meanwhile, we have a roaring campfire with s’mores, hot cocoa, and campfire songs. The Park Ranger orients people to the night sky by pointing out planets and constellations and teaching basic astronomy. This is followed by one or two constellation stories, retelling the mythology behind the stars. Throughout the night, people travel back and forth from the campfire programs to the telescopes to see new things. Click here for more information.
