Both of my kids were introduced to golfing through their sports skills class at Gymoree and loved it. Supposedly Tiger Woods began golfing as a toddler, so I thought with kids ages 4 & 6, this summer would be a good time to look into golf camps.

To my surprise, I was unable to find any camp for children younger than 8. The pee wee golf program through the Ecke Family YMCA gets great reviews, but it’s for ages 3-5. Perfect for my son, but it excludes my daughter.

Happily, with just about a month of summer break remaining, I’ve discovered the Junior Golf Clinics at Carmel Highland Golf Resort. The 2012 summer program offers 1.5 hour clinics that are open to boys and girls age 6-15 of any skill level. Held Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00-12:30 p.m., these clinics are sold as punch cards of four clinics for $100.

Each clinic is limited to the first eight students who sign up in the pro shop, and unused punches will not be valid for future programs. With nine sessions remaining, this is something I definitely hope to add to our end-of-summer schedule.

The Carmel Highland Golf Resort is located in Rancho Penasquitos at 14455 Penasquitos Dr. Click here to view the full schedule or call 858.485.4145 for more information.

My husband teaches kids as young as 4 and his camps are for 6 and up. Also, he has tournaments for kids this young too! We were meaning to advertise in your printed guide and got so busy we missed it. I don’t know if the people featured in this post are only advertisers. If so, please delete this message. But if not…. We’d love to be included!
