Being a Mom is a Pain in My Neck

Of course I LOVE being a mom, but I have experienced more physical pain since becoming one than I ever did in my 35 non-mom years.

Carrying and delivering a baby is hard on the body. We all know that. But what has surprised me is how much wear-and-tear my body has endured in the seven years since delivering my daughter.

It begins with lugging around an extra 20 + pounds every day in the form of your baby, infant car seat, diaper bag and possibly another kid! Just carrying your baby alone is hard on arms, back and neck. Most of us are not use to hauling an extra 7, 10, 15 pounds each and every day for the majority of each day.

What about the twisting and the neck wrenching that we moms do while in the car checking on our screaming baby and picking up toys that are dropped?  The shoulder pain I endured after months of reaching into the backseat of the car made me feel 100 years old.

Couple the physical strains of motherhood with the mental stress, the lack of sleep, the lack of time to take proper care of yourself, and it’s no wonder we are in pain, moms!

I’ve seen chiropractors and acupuncturists. I try to get massages each month and to do yoga several times a week. But I’m always up for learning new ways to reduce my stress and the pain I seem to perpetually carry in my neck and shoulders.

If you feel (the pain) the way I do, join me at MELT for MOMS.  The MELT Method was recently featured on the Dr. Oz Show, and PainCare of San Diego is hosting a complimentary workshop for moms on Wednesday, May 8th just in time for Mother’s Day.

Learn simple self-care techniques you can use every day to make your body feel better and function more efficiently. Reduce inflammation, ease chronic neck and low back strain, improve alignment, and learn how to keep your whole body working better.

Join MELT Instructor Corrie Anderson, for a complimentary 60-minute workshop using soft foam rollers and small MELT Hand and Foot Balls to rehydrate the connective tissue throughout the body, making muscles and joints happy!

The M.E.L.T. Method® is an innovative science-based self-treatment program that’s being taught in some of the country’s most prestigious health and fitness centers.  Reserve your spot today by “liking” PainCare of San Diego on Facebook and posting a comment that you want to attend the free MELT Method workshop.  10 moms will receive a spot in the class and a Mother’s Day gift bag!
