A (San Diego) Mother is Born

“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”

Rajneesh

This is my favorite quote about motherhood, because I remember so vividly feeling like I had turned into a new (yet to be understood) person as soon as I came home from Sharp Mary Birch with Mallory.

I admit that I’ve been more of a mother and less of a wife for the past 8 years. But last week we celebrated the life Greg and I created together as I sailed the turquoise waters of the British Virgin Islands with my fabulous husband.

We had nothing more to do than swim with sea turtles, sun bathe, sip cocktails and soak in the scenery.

It was awesome.

But I wasn’t sad when the trip ended. I was giddy with excitement to see my kids again. I feel so refreshed and spoiled that I do not need one single present or celebration of any kind this Mother’s Day weekend. Instead, I want to help refresh and spoil a few mom’s guide readers.

Tune in this week when I highlight three of my all time favorite mom-friendly businesses. The gifts I’m giving away are each something I would love to receive. These are not advertisers, these are the local places I go when I want to pamper myself.

I hope you’ll check back throughout the week and enter to win whichever giveaway that will make your life as a mom a bit brighter. 🙂 Get one extra entry by commenting here with your favorite way to treat yourself in San Diego.

  1. My favorite guilty pleasure is to get my haircut and colored, seems now more an effort of maintanence than pampering, but still it’s a time I often look forward to!

My favorite way to treat myself in San Diego is taking my son to the shell shop at La Jolla cove, grabbing a coffee from across the street, and going down to look at the seals and run around the Ellen Browning park. 🙂

A massage is my go-to getaway these days. Usually Blue Lotus or Gaia Day Spa.
