Chasing the Shade

During the summer, moms across San Diego County start looking for “cool” places to hang out. Apparently shade sails that cover the length of a play structure can cost tens of thousands of dollars, which is why you see so few of them in San Diego County.

Big Rock park in Santee is my personal favorite. There’s a ton of shade provided by trees.

It’s a drive but there’s a great covered playground in Ramona. It’s really near the Main Street with antique shops and the natural food market etc. We go up some Sunday’s and look around the antique shops, buy old fashioned candy and let our son play at the awesome park.

Poway Community Park has great shade, lots to do, has rubber (no sand/wood chips) and even water misters. It’s one of our favourite parks.
