Just Add Water

Oliver and I have been having so much fun exploring the different community pools that San Diego has to offer, and I’m so glad I’ve got this easy, cheap, action-packed activity figured out at an early age! I already know there are many years of water fun ahead of us when we’re trying to beat the San Diego heat! To say the least, this baby is an aquaholic, so if you’ve got a water baby on your hands too, I highly suggest you get out and enjoy one of the city’s rec center pools!

The following City of San Diego Community Pool summer schedule runs June 22 – September 7th. At all city pools, the cost for an adult is $4, and child (including babies) is $2. To make it easy on you, I’ve listed their open/rec swim hours below, but you can always get more info on their website at http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/centers/aquatics/index.shtml.

Keep in mind the City of La Mesa & City of Chula Vista have their own sites, which I’ve listed below.

Bonus: All city pools are available to rent for exclusive or shared use birthday parties!

“All of our aquatic facilities have baby changing stations, day use lockers, heated showers, disability access (ramp or lift) and designated spectator areas.”

As always, please make sure you apply and re-apply sunscreen to yourself and your little one!

  1. Hi Camille! Which area do you live in? I think most community pools are very similar in their offerings, so location would be important to me. We live in La Mesa and think our community pool is pretty awesome, but it does not have a splash pad or baby pool. So if I was going to drive outside of my community, I’d pick one with the little splash play area.

Thanks for this awesome and easy to use list! Which pool would you say would be best for a pool party for 1-4 year olds? Thanks for your input 🙂
