Happy Black (Friday), Small (Business Saturday), Cyber (Monday), Giving (Tuesday) Week!
Today is Small Business Saturday when we are encouraged to skip the big box stores in favor of the locally owned businesses that contribute so much to our town and our lives. At The Mom’s Guide, we’re all about bringing you the scoop on fabulous, small, largely mom-owned local businesses.
Here are a few that make us (and our children!) very happy San Diegans, and you can find even more in our directory of family-friendly resources.
Find some inner peace by continuing your practice or adding yoga to your weekly routine even after baby has arrived. Hapa Yoga in Chula Vista and Mission Valley offers a mix of yoga, TRX and barre classes to keep your mind and body fit. San Diego mom Tina Ardolino offers on-site childcare to make our lives easier!
Club Pilates in Mission Valley, North Park and Santee is owned by local mom, Katie Mann, who knew that adding childcare to her Santee studio would give moms more “me” time. The highly effective and quick 50-minute workouts are just the kind of exercise busy moms need!
Melissa is the mom and photographer behind fun and affordable Honeybee Photography. I couldn’t be happier with the photos she has taken for my family and business during the past year. Many of you have gotten a taste of her talent during our free Close5 photo shoots. We’ll be doing another one with her soon, but if you can’t wait, be sure to check out her mini shoots with Santa at the beach!
Over the years my kids and I have spent a lot of time at Funbelievable indoor playground. It is a great place for toddlers up to school-aged kids to get the wiggles out. Lynn is the wonderful local owner who has regular specials for first responders and keeps her playground clean and safe.
Want to see this kind of smile on your little girl’s face? How about your son’s? Parties Unique was the talent behind my son’s super hero and daughter’s princess birthday parties. Affordable and fabulous, these local artists are great to work with. Check out their upcoming Winter Celebration with Frozen Sisters!
Oh my goodness, I could go on and on about the wonderful small businesses that we’ve worked with over the years. We know companies that teach your kids to cook, offer baby and kid resale, provide support to moms, cut kids’ hair, fix their teeth and on and on.
What small business has touched your family this year? Give them a shout out today!
