This summer, San Diego families can enjoy 122 free movies being played in parks throughout the county. All of the movies are family-friendly and range from classics like Aladdin, Mary Poppins and Field of Dreams to recent hits like Zootopia, The Good Dinosaur and even Star Wars The Force Awakens.
Upcoming Movies in the Park
At most of the parks families can enjoy pre-movie fun including crafts and games. You can show your Close5 app for complimentary bags of popcorn & cotton candy at select events, and each time Close5 is at an event, they give away something really awesome. Here’s this weekend’s giveaway . . .
And, remember that laughing Chewbacca mask Facebook woman? Find the Close5 table at an upcoming park screening of Star Wars and enter to win your own mask.
But perhaps even better than prizes, popcorn and games is that in many of our local parks, moms and dads can enjoy an adult beverage along with the movie. Alcohol is banned in some parks for 24 hours each day and in all parks for at least some parts of each day. But you can enjoy your beverage in many parks between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. including:

Hi Stacey, while we do understand where you are coming from, we strongly believe that the majority of our readers are responsible adults who are walking to their neighborhood movies in the park, using a designated driver or drinking in moderation and certainly not to the point that they would endanger their children. We are so sorry that you have been affected by drinking and driving and would never want anyone impaired to get into the driver’s seat with or without children in the car. Thank you for following the Mom’s Guide. xo
Please think about the message this post is presenting. You are essentially encouraging people to drink and then drive home with their children in the car with the “Even Better” comment. I much prefer Rants from Mommyland’s post on this important subject, one that I will admit has affected people I know.
