The best toy and the best holiday, all in one happy place…LEGOLAND California!!
On Monday, we were invited to attend the 14th annual tree lighting ceremony at Legoland in Carlsbad, California. This was our first visit to the amusement park and let me tell you…O. M. Geeeeee we loved it!!
Having lived in San Diego for several years, and having explored most of the areas attractions, I am embarrassed to say that I didn’t have many expectations for Legoland, but this place blew me out of the water. In my mind, my two-year old would be too young to enjoy the park, but boy was I wrong! We are already planning our next trip back!
We didn’t have enough time in the day to get through all of the rides, shows, and play areas before heading over for the evening ceremony, where we were treated to a live performance from the Lego Friends holiday show and given a sneak peak of the new LEGO NINJAGO rooms at the Legoland Hotel, and renderings of the new Castle Hotel, due to break ground in January 2017!!
Guests cheered as Santa and Stana Katic (from the ABC hit series “Castle”) engaged in an exciting countdown to light the 30 foot tall “tree”, made out of more than 245,000 green DUPLO® bricks, and featured more than 11,000 LED lights! During the ceremony, LEGOLAND donated a generous $10,000 to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Katic’s behalf and celebrated with an epic firework show!
The annual ceremony was the kickoff to LEGOLANDS holiday celebrations, Festive Cheer. Now through January 1st, families who attend the park can also enjoy holiday shows, holiday treats, occasional snow flurries, and even LEGO Santa! Kids can sing and dance with the LEGO Friends, and take a photo with a life-sized LEGO Santa and Reindeer!
On December 31, head up to LEGOLAND for a Kids’ New Year’s Eve party, complete with fireworks and a “Brick Drop! Don’t forget to turn your admission ticket in for a FREE RETURN ticket to be used in early January. I know I will be back!!
