Ringing in the New Year with your Little One!

canstockphoto23921024  What are you doing for New Year’s Eve?

Over the years we’ve found the easiest thing to do is host a family-friendly party in our own home with confetti poppers, silly string and sparklers (found some at the local Nothing Bundt Cake stores!).

But I totally get the desire to hit the road and, luckily for those who are looking for kid-friendly fun, San Diego does have some great offerings such as . . .

The grand finale of Holidays at LEGOLAND® California Resort is the annual Kids’ New Year’s Eve party! This lively party begins with special musical performances from kid favorite groups Twinkle Time and Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band on Fun Town Stage and in Heartlake City. Then, for the first time, the party moves to San Francisco in Miniland U.S.A. where like the famous Times Square party, guests gather for the countdown followed by a huge LEGO® brick dropping 22 feet into 2017 and spectacular fireworks at 6 p.m. to end the night just in time for curfew.

In addition to the holiday fun, LEGOLAND California Resort is offering a gift for holiday guests: through Jan. 1, 2017, buy a one day admission to LEGOLAND California and return a second day to LEGOLAND California and SEA LIFE® Aquarium for free between Jan. 2, 2017 and March 1, 2017. All Holidays at LEGOLAND California Resort activities located inside the Park are included with regular Park admission (Kids 3–12 $89; Adults $95; Parking $15).

Check it out at LEGOLAND on December 31st from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

From 7 – 9 p.m. on December 31st, families can enjoy wildlife animal encounters, games, hot chocolate bar and sweet treats, a photo booth, arts and crafts, karaoke and a “midnight” toast that corresponds to the Times Square ball drop. Champagne is available for adults and everyone is welcome to bundle up and enjoy a nature walk under the stars.

The Living Coast Discovery Center is selling tickets now for $18 each. Make sure to get yours before they are all gone! Visit thelivingcoast.org for more information.

If you’re looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve Eve, check out the New Children’s Museum Pajama Jam. This event is a “fun”-raiser for the museum in addition to being fun for the whole family. Grab your coziest footie pajamas and enjoy dinner, drinks, entertainment, prizes and a balloon drop between 5:30 and 8:30 pm. Member price: $15/child, $25/adult | Non-Member price: $25/child, $35/adult. Visit thinkplaycreate.org for more information.

Why not celebrate the beginning of 2017 with a stay in a deluxe cabin, tent or RV at the awesome KOA campgrounds in Chula Vista. The wonderful weekend activities include cookie decorating, rock wall climbing, laser tag, barrel train rides, backyard rocket making and launching as well as a movie under the stars. Enjoy the chilly weather roasting s’mores around your own campfire, ride bikes and take a dip in the hot tub. San Diego KOA is one of our favorite family escapes. Check them out at koa.com/campgrounds/san-diego/ for reservations and more information.

Happy New Year from Jennifer & Chelsea @ MomsGuidetoSanDiego.com!
