Each week this month we have profiled one of our favorite San Diego non-profits, giving you the chance to enter to win a membership, admission or event ticket in support of that organization. In our final week I’d like to profile my family’s all time favorite San Diego museum – the Fleet Science Center.
The Fleet is hands-on, interactive science fun for all ages with a combination of permanent and traveling exhibitions, captivating IMAX movies, a monthly planetarium show, camps and special programs like the Saturday Science Club for Girls.
What we love: From the time your children can toddle around through their high school years, the Fleet offers a variety of programs and exhibits. From Kid City for the 5 and younger set to preschool science programs to the High Tech fair for middle and high schoolers, the Fleet Science Center will intrigue and inspire a love of science. Our family membership has provided countless hours of fun that has been a nearly effortless way to make our children better STEM students.
There are nearly as many ways to visit the science center inexpensively as there are things to do once you get there. Each month San Diego residents can get in free during the “Residents Free Tuesdays” promotion. “A” students get in free with paid adult admission by simply showing their good grades in any science or math subject within the past three months. Military families enjoy up to 20% off of admission prices through MWR ticket offices. But the best “deal” is certainly the family membership that we’re giving away this month!
What we’re offering: Enter for your chance to win an annual family membership for two adults and up to six children to visit the Fleet Science Center with unlimited exhibit gallery admission, discounts on theater tickets and discounts on camps and educations programs. Simply leave a comment on this blog post for your chance to be our winner!
When we’re going: The super fun Game Masters exhibit that shows visitors how the world’s most famous video games were made will close in mid-January, so we’re headed back for more family Garage Band jam sessions and classic arcade game competitions. Family Gaming Night will take place on December 29th with the museum staying open until 10 p.m. We are also looking forward to kicking off 2018 with an astronomer-led planetarium show called “In the Sky Tonight” on January 3rd followed by free telescope viewing in Balboa Park.
Fine print: The winner of our giving Tuesday/December contest will be announced on December 23rd. Each week a different non-profit will be highlighted, and readers are invited to enter for a chance to win a membership or admission. All entries will be collected and entered. One entry will be randomly selected to win and awarded the prize of their choice. Readers may enter every week during the month of December. Only one name and prize will be selected.
