Calling all Potterheads… the San Diego Symphony wants to transport you to a Wizarding World, reliving the magic of the Harry Potter films in high-definition while its orchestra performs the unforgettable movie scores.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third in the book / movie series, was performed last weekend inside of Copley Symphony Hall. It was truly magical to see and hear the musical talent behind the movie.
In addition to the instruments, a large choir performed several key scenes. I never had a full understanding of the importance and pervasiveness of music in film until I started to attend our Symphony’s movie concerts, and I just love sharing the experience with my kids.
The movie concert series is intended for families, and this past weekend there were children of all ages in attendance, many festively dressed in wizard robes and Hogwarts House colors. If your family loves Harry Potter, I highly recommend saving the date for this summer’s opportunity to enjoy Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in concert on Saturday and Sunday, August 4th and 5th.
This concert will be held movie-in-the-park style at the Embarcadero with a variety of seating options including our favorite –lawn seats. Bring a picnic dinner and let the kids run around before the movie starts! Tickets go on sale April 29th. For more information, visit sandiegosymphony.org.
