It’s summer in San Diego! Let’s make music & play at the nighttime zoo, enjoy some free movies & concerts in the park, a little mass creativity and fairies … here are five of our favorite happenings this week, but do check out our online calendar for even more great ideas!
Monday, June 17th until 8 p.m.
San Diego Zoo
On Mondays and Tuesdays through July 30th, the San Diego Zoo is open until 8 p.m. and full of fun reasons to visit including special animal interactions, street performers and a bubble show. The animals love to play at night and you will too!
Arts & Activities at the Canyon
Wednesday, June 19th from 1:30 – 3 p.m.
Tecolote Canyon Natural Park
Explore nature and crafting at this FREE and fun event. Kid’s Art & Activities is led by Miss Marla and the awesome Rangers and volunteers of Tecolote Canyon Natural Park every third Wednesday of the month.
Friday, June 21st from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The Museum of Making Music
Take a trip to Carlsbad’s Museum of Making Music and explore the world of instrument making through a variety of stations where kids and their families can “Make ‘n Play” their own musical instruments. Jump on stage and play your new instruments along with ukuleles, drums and percussion instruments provided by the Museum. Discover the relationship between science and music at the Vibration Station where kids can play a water xylophone and conduct other cool musical experiments.

The New Children’s Museum Park
The whole family will love the live music, food, hands-on art-making activities & free admission to The New Children’s Museum at this artist-led community festival. FREE!
