Fave 5 ~ Week of November 4th

Halloween festivities have come to an end, but there’s lots of fall fun on the horizon. This week brings free museums, toddler yoga at the aquarium, hands-on discovery tables, trains, monster trucks and more. As always, our event calendar is a great place to turn when looking for kid-friendly fun in our beautiful city, but here are our fave 5 picks of the week! Have fun out there San Diego!

Resident Free Tuesday @ the Science, History & Model Railroad Museums

Tuesday, November 5th – all day

Balboa Park Museums

Ok so this may be one of those “everyone already knows about that” events, BUT, the first Tuesday of the month is our absolute favorite, and worth an extra mention this week. If you have young kids, some of the most family-friendly museums will offer FREE ADMISSION this Tuesday. While it’s unlikely that you can make it through all three in a day, you have great options with the Fleet Science Center, The Natural History Museum, and the Model Railroad Museum. Note that during crowded times, strollers may be restricted, and asked to be left at the front of the museum. All residents (adults) will need to show a photo ID with your address for free admission.

Birch Aquarium’s Toddler Time with Seed & Song

Wednesday, November 6th from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Birch Aquarium

From story time and live music, to art activities or animal interactions, Toddler Time is a fun and engaging event for the littlest guests, ages 5 and under, at Birch Aquarium. This week, Seed & Song will explore the mystery of the ocean in this upbeat yoga + music class, developmentally designed to wake up your senses and carve out mindful time together. Take a deep breath and dive in with our original Seed & Song music that harnesses the power of music therapy techniques. Get ready for interactive, quick-paced fun. Learn more at seedandsong.com.

Mission Trails Discovery Tables – Lichens

Saturday, November 9th from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Mission Trails Regional Park

Stop by the Discovery Tables in the lobby of the Visitor Center of Mission Trails Regional Park anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and learn all about lichens from MTRP Trail Guides. See if you can solve the lichen layers puzzle and identify the three types of lichen!

Discovery tables are set up on the second Saturday of every month. Tables feature hands-on activities and take home materials for kids and adults. Topics vary month-to-month.
