February is one of my favorite months in San Diego! There are minimal crowds, fabulous deals, exciting events, and overall spectacular weather. Some of our favorite, local events also take place this month. Our event calendar is packed full with family fun, as usual, but a few of our top picks in February are listed below.
Feb 1 – 29, Participating Museums
Hopefully you are already familiar with this amazing annual promotion, and this is just serving as a reminder to you, but if you’re new to San Diego Museum Month…well, well, well…you are in for a treat! San Diego area residents (and visitors) can pick up a Museum Month discount pass at any of the libraries, Macy’s stores, or Hilton hotels listed at the bottom of this link. The pass is free, covers up to 4 people, and can be used at several museums throughout the month. Present your pass at any participating museum to receive 50% off the cost of admission!

February 1 & 15, Petco Park
This is one of our favorite, action-packed events ever, and this year I can’t wait to take my truck-loving 21-month old along with us! This month, Monster Jam returns to San Diego for two high-octane events featuring the ultimate mix of high-flying action and four-wheel excitement. Monster Jam is the big leagues of motorsports competition, where 12,000-pound trucks and the world-class athletes who drive them tear up the dirt with gravity-defying feats. Engineered to perfection, the legendary Grave Digger®, Max-D™, El Toro Loco® and many more push all limits in Freestyle, 2 Wheel Skills Challenge™ and Racing competitions. testing their agility, speed and versatility. The 2020 season is highlighted by four San Diego debut truck appearances including the including the first-ever diesel-powered truck BroDozer (inspired by the popular Discovery Channel TV show “Diesel Brothers”) plus EarthShaker, Wolf’s Head and Saigon Shaker. February 15 & 16, Del Mar Fairgrounds

February 29, Balboa Theater
“Won’t you be my neighbor?” Daniel Tiger and all of his friends from the beloved PBS KIDS television series are hopping aboard Trolley to San Diego with DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD LIVE! Along with “O” the Owl, Katerina Kittycat, Prince Wednesday, Mom and Dad Tiger and many more, Daniel Tiger will take live audiences on an interactive musical adventure to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, sharing stories of friendship, helping others and celebrating new experiences. This live theatrical production filled with music, dancing, laughter and “grr-ific” surprises will warm the hearts of multiple generations.
Multiple Dates & Locations
OK did you know this is a thing? You can DROP. YOUR. KID. OFF at several of the top, kid-friendly hot spots around town, and head out for…whatever you want! Multiple venues such as the San Diego Zoo, Kidventures, The Playground, San Diego Gymnastics, the Fleet Science Center and more, offer a Kid’s Night Out, which typically happen on Fridays or Saturdays anywhere from 4-10pm. Costs vary, but typically run about $25-$60 per child (most offer sibling discounts) and include dinner, snacks, movies, games, activities and endless fun. Win win for everyone involved!
