Fave 5 ~ Week of January 20

Sometimes I love having nothing on my calendar for the week…no birthday parties, no must-do events, no family or friend commitments. The week of January 20th is NOT one of those times, and I’m ok with it! After a couple of weeks settling down from the chaos of the holidays, and a few more days to get back into our school and work routines, we are ready for all of the adventures that San Diego has to offer again. Our local events calendar is always packed full of ideas and suggestions, but here are the top 5 on my list this week!

San Diego Restaurant Week (180+ locations!)

January 19 – 26

My husband and I scootered to our last SD Restaurant Week date night and had a BLAST!

San Diego Restaurant Week makes the cut as a must-do this week because it is such a fabulous opportunity to A) discover a new family-friendly restaurant (or perhaps revisit an old favorite) and/or B) get out on that much needed date night with your partner! Whichever route you take, it’s a great way to dine out on a budget, and there are so many wonderful participating restaurants. A few of our kid-friendly faves are Bo Beau’s in La Mesa,  C-Level, Cafe Coyote, Del’s Hideout (pro-tip: Kids Eat Free on Wednesdays), and Stone Brewing in Liberty Station. And if you need suggestions for a great date night spot, check out Bleu Boheme, Antica Trattoria, Flagship or Hornblower Cruise, or Mister A’s!

Disney on Ice – Mickey’s Search Party (Pechanga Arena)

January 23 – 26

Taking Oliver (age 2) and our friend, Lacey, to Disney on Ice in 2016!

We’ve gone to Disney on Ice every year since Oliver was 2, and each year, that magic in his eyes grows bigger and bigger! Create unforgettable memories and become part of the story when Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party! This brand-new immersive ice skating experience brings the magic closer to fans than ever before through engaging elements that take place on the ice, in the air and in the seats.  An exciting participatory adventure delivering compelling storytelling through multi-leveled production numbers that immerse fans into the fantastic worlds of Disney-Pixar’s Coco, Frozen, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid, this all-new show will be playing at Pechanga Arena San Diego from January 23rd – 26th!

Finger Painting Friday at the New Children’s Museum

January 24

Levi and Gavin have fun painting with water at the museum

Toddler Time at the New Children’s museum happens every Friday morning at 10am, and is included with your museum admission. This toddler program “values the whole child and supports healthy bodies and minds, with music, movement and social play for young children.”  This Friday, bring your toddler down to the museum for some messy, art-making fun.  Finger painting is an immersive art experience that allows children to be completely creative with their work. Better yet, caregivers don’t have to worry about cleaning up the mess!

Grossmont Center’s 2nd Annual Snow Day

January 25

Levi and Weston get a snow day!
