Fave 5 ~ Week of January 6th

You’re so lucky if you have little ones who aren’t going back to school this week. With most SD schools getting back to business, our parks, beaches and local attractions will be a lot less busy – – my favorite time to get out and enjoy some of our favorite activities!

Cozy Comfort Foods Cooking Class

Wednesday, January 8th @ 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Olivewood Gardens, National City

One of the best ways to get your child to try new foods is to have him help you cook them! During Olivewood Garden’s 1.5 hour classes, children 5 – 12 years old will learn how to use appropriate cooking tools, taste new foods and create fun, seasonal recipes. During this class they will be making homemade pretzels, tomato soup and cheese dip with roasted cauliflower. Yum!

Baby Signing Time

Friday, January 10th @ 10:30 a.m.

Encinitas Library

Families 0-18 months old are invited to foster an early love of reading, learning, and communicating through this interactive library experience. Priority Parenting’s Laura Greer specializes in sharing American Sign Language communication tools with hearing households, using music and song. Join in for this free half hour of fun.

Poway Winter Fest

Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th

Poway Community Park

The Poway Winter Festival is an awesome FREE community event. Kids will love building a snowman, sledding down the snow hill, roasting marshmallows by the campfire, making silly faces in the free photo booth, or taking a spin around the synthetic skate rink.

Saturday, January 11th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Birch Aquarium

Birch Aquarium’s Loggerhead Sea Turtle’s story of survival and perseverance has inspired thousands of guests and millions of people around the world! Help celebrate her fifth anniversary with a sea turtle-filled weekend “shell-ebration” of crafts, sea turtle science, and family-friendly activities. Included with admission.
