I’m not going to lie. When I found out I was pregnant with another boy, my heart sank just a little, and all my hopes and dreams of tutus and tea parties went out the window. But once the thought of being a boy mom became my reality, I’ve embraced every aspect of it…all the dirt, the wrestling, the dinosaurs, trains, planes and TRUCKS. So. Many. Trucks.
So it’s no surprise that when Monster Jam rolls into town, with their 12,000lb trucks and their world-class athletic drivers, that we will be there! And who says that trucks are only for boys? I like big trucks and I cannot lie, and love that this event has become a family tradition of ours. The sights, sounds, smells, and excitement at the event are so much fun for everyone. The Monster Jam drivers are trained, world-class male and female athletes who have mastered not only the physical strength and mental stamina needed to compete, but the vital dexterity to control 12,000-pound machines capable of doing backflips, vertical two-wheel skills and racing at speeds up to 70 miles per hour to produce jaw-dropping, live motor sports action seen around the world. It is truly impressive to watch.
So here’s what you should know!
WHAT: Monster Jam is quite possibly the most action-packed motorsports experience in the world today! This high-octane event features the ultimate mix of high-flying action and four-wheel excitement!
WHEN: Saturday, February 15, 2020
We were so grateful to be hosted at the February 1st show, but if you missed that event, you have another chance to see it THIS SATURDAY at 7pm!
WHERE: Petco Park – 100 Park Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92101
The Pit Party will take place at the Lexus Lot, across the street
TIPS: When you see all the photos of the kids wearing ear protection, it is not to make them look cute. The kids (and even some adults) NEED ear protection, especially if you are seated on a lower level, close to the action. Ear muffs, noise cancelling headphones or ear plugs are all good options. Yes, they are sold at the event, but you’ll pay a premium, so it’s a good idea to put in an Amazon order, stop by Home Depot, or borrow a set from your neighbor to bring along.
Dress warm! You guys…the event starts at 7pm and is OUTSIDE. You will be sitting down for most of the show, and/or standing in a line somewhere, so it is crucial that you dress appropriately!
A full list of allowed items can be found on the Petco Park website, but a few that might stand out to you are strollers, backpacks, (sealed) water bottles/juice boxes/milk cartons, snacks, banners (it’s fun to make one at home before the event), and blankets.
Parking. Parking can be challenging and expensive. Make sure you bring cash, as many places do not accept a credit card. Arrive as early as possible to try and snag a spot at the self-parking lot on 6th & K ($15), or pay just $5 more and valet park at the Marriott for just $20. Or, expand your adventure and hop on the MTS trolley!
PIT PARTY: At the Monster Jam® Pit Party, you can see the massive trucks up close, meet your favorite drivers, get autographs, take pictures and enjoy other family-friendly activities. It’s an unforgettable part of the Monster Jam experience where lifelong fans are born. The Pit Party is open from 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM (Event ticket & Pit Pass required for entry; located in the Lexus Lot) and includes family fun such as mini-monster trucks, a bounce house/slide, an opportunity to make a banner, build a wooden monster truck model (extra fee required), watch demonstrations, and buy official merchandise.
