Your Little Gymnast Will Love OVO by Cirque du Soleil!

I have loved Cirque de Soleil since I was a little kid, and although I was never great at gymnastics, I always dreamed of soaring through the air like those amazing acrobats, throwing your arms up in success after completing a backwards-niner-roundabout-flip-jump-thingy. I didn’t get a chance to take my 5-year-old this time, since opening night was past his bedtime, but I was wishing he were with me the whole time! He would have lost his mind! This weekend offers 1:30pm, 4pm, and 5pm show options, so there are several opportunities to witness it without interrupting their precious little sleep.

The “bug themed” performance had cast members thrilling the audience with Foot Juggling & Icarian Games, Hand Balancing, Contortion, Aerial Straps, Slackwire, Russian Cradle and a signature final act mixing Trampoline, Tumbling & Rock-Climbing…all which were completely jaw-dropping stunts. If you have an aspiring gymnast, or even an insect loving preschooler, this show will blow their mind.

This man is balancing on a slack line, riding a unicycle, upside down! Mind-blowing!

OVO, meaning “egg” in Portuguese, is a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. When a mysterious egg appears in their midst, the insects are awestruck and intensely curious about this iconic object that represents the enigma and cycles of their lives. It is love at first sight when a gawky, quirky insect arrives in this bustling community and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye – and the feeling is mutual.

Cirque du Soleil returns to San Diego in March 2020 with the show OVO, after having toured in arenas all over North America, Europe and South America since April 2016. OVO has performed in the United States in the past, but is now back by popular demand! The production will be presented at Viejas Arena (at San Diego State University) from March 5-8, 2020 for 7 performances.
