A Clean Home is a Happy Home
I have a lot of passions, but cleaning is not one of them. I do, however, get excited about having a clean house when someone else is doing the “dirty work.”
Mom of three and owner of A Passion for Clean, Alisa Elswood, says I’m the reason she’s in business. “A clean home is a happy one, Alisa says. “We want to be part of the routine that helps make our customers’ lives happier, healthier and cleaner.”
There are a number of qualities that distinguishes A Passion for Clean from other agencies. Alisa prides herself on delivering licensed, bonded cleaners who are easy to communicate with and who arrive ready to provide excellent service.
“We start at the ceiling and work our way down to the baseboards,”Alisa says. “We pretty much hit every surface from cleaning lampshades to dusting the top of the bookshelves to removing all items from counters and tables, cleaning them up and placing them back.”
And that’s just the standard cleaning. For $5 more per hour, A Passion for Clean offers deep cleanings that can include the inside of refrigerators and ovens, interior windows and more.
“I enjoy knowing that I am offering families something of value,” Alisa says. “Our work is guaranteed as well. If you’re unhappy for any reason whatsoever, we’ll make it right!”
A Passion for Clean’s rates are $25 per hour for standard, $30 per hour for deep cleaning, and they are offering a special of $30 off new customer orders of 4 hours or more or $20 off for any 3 hour service.
A Passion for Clean strives to provide flexibility and same day service when possible, booking as late a 3 p.m.
“We want to win our customer’s business,” says Alisa, pictured below with her children.
Busy Mom Seeks Organization
Still sticking to your New Year’s Resolution goals, or have they taken a back burner to the realities and stresses of motherhood? Perhaps the missing piece to achieving your goals is a little bit of organization.
Is there any resolution that doesn’t require organization to execute?
You want to get fit? You will need to find your workout clothes, schedule time to fit in exercise on a regular basis, and organize your finances so that you can invest in a gym membership or yoga classes.
You want to eat better? You will need to purge your pantry of temptations, find time to organize a meal plan or a grocery list, shop, prep, and cook healthier meals.
You want to start saving money? You will need to organize your budget, track your spending, set financial goals, stop spending money on items that you already have and can’t find in your home.
“Organizing your life is VITAL to strategizing and following through on EVERY SINGLE RESOLUTION,” says Beth Deig, Professional Organizer and owner of Sorted Nest, a home organizing service. “I propose that we take January to get organized and cleared of clutter and then set our resolutions on Feb. 1st. At the end of a month of mental and physical clutter clearing, I promise you will have a much better sense of what you do and don’t want for yourself and where you want to go in the coming year.”
Though Beth only discovered the field of professional organizing a few years ago, she had a passion for organizing early in life…she even enjoyed organizing her toys as a child. But this San Diego mom is challenged with keeping her own little home organized amidst the chaos of two little kids and a husband just like the rest of us. “They are not neat at all. Nor is my husband!” Beth says.
“People get overwhelmed and grumpy living in a cluttered home,” says Beth. “I’m a mom. I really get needing help and being hesitant to ask for it, but I love to be able to help other moms reduce the stress and overwhelm in their homes.”
“One mother that I will never forget was in tears upon my arrival with a disorganized guest room filled with baby shower gifts. After a single 3-hour organizing session we were able to transform the room into an organized nursery where mom could sit and peacefully dream of baby’s impending arrival.”
In addition to helping her clients clear clutter, find homes for items, and create better systems in their homes, Beth gives tips on storage systems and where to purchase them. She also takes donations, electronics and batteries for recycling, and documents to be shredded with her at the end of each organizing session.
If you’re craving more peace, calm and order in your home, call your local professional organizer. Beth is offering mom’s guide readers a free 15-minute phone consultation as well as 1 free hour of organizing during your first 3-hour organizing session, after a paid in-home consultation.
The Insider Scoop on the Impressive new Contour by Cox
I think it is only fair to start this post by admitting that I am not currently a COX customer. HOWEVER, it appears as though that will soon change, because the new Contour by Cox is simply…IMPRESSIVE. One of those gotta-have-it, sign-me-up, how-did-I-live-without-this kind of deals. Let me explain…
Voice Remote. Most people are tempted to save the best for last, but I’m just too excited about this feature! Contour by Cox is making the future a reality by bringing you a MICROPHONE in your remote. No more scrolling or typing. Simply say what you need! “Switch to HGTV,” “Record The Voice,” “Find me a comedy for kids,” and even….famous phrases or quotes! Know the movie you’re looking for but just can’t recall the title? Contour to the rescue! Say something like “Nobody puts Baby in a Corner” and within seconds you’ll be watching the fabulous Dirty Dancing!
Just For You. Who…me? Does this Contour thing really know me? Amazingly enough, the answer is yes. Picture this: you’re enjoying a nice Friday evening snuggled up next to your hubby watching Castaway. Hubby says, “Tom Hanks did such a great job directing this movie,” to which you reply “Tom Hanks didn’t direct Castaway!” Cue the Contour! The info button is your new on-demand IMDb, displaying ratings, cast members (AND their profiles) and suggestions for other movies staring (not directed by…ahem) Tom Hanks. Ready for a Friday night Tom Hanks marathon? Contour already knows and has suggested that you browse the on demand library or record upcoming movies/shows featuring Tom Hanks. You might never have known that Splash will be playing next Thursday, but Contour does, and has already notified you!
The Kids’ Zone. Though most first-time pregnant moms have the same goal of never letting their precious babe set eyes on a TV screen, they will soon join the rest of us who raise their glass to Thomas, Sophia, George or Elmo for providing 20 minutes of free toddler entertainment while, heaven-forbid, we put some mascara on. Now, imagine a world where the Kids Zone is designed specifically for them. Displaying search results of ONLY age specific shows, with age-appropriate language and age-appropriate poster art. And never having to worry about “whoops, how did he flip to HBO?!” since you can lock channels, create custom settings, and restrict access via PIN…muahahahaha. Give them the freedom to choose what they want without the option of it being too mature.
Start Over. It’s 7:55pm, and the season finale of your favorite show is just minutes away from starting. You’ve been waiting for this all week! 7:58, and you’re settled down with your glass of wine when bam! The baby is awake, screaming, and causes you to miss the first 12 minutes of your show. No worries, just Start Over! The start over feature allows you to go back to the beginning and watch from the start. Yay!
The Last Nine. Finally able to sit down after another long day of diaper changes and tantrums? Just want to watch your favorite show without scrolling through your DVR or TV guide? Contour remembers and displays the last NINE shows that you viewed, whether they be from your on-demand library, live TV or recorded DVR programs. Convenience at its finest.
Trending. With a dedicated team who is constantly scanning the news & social media sites, you are sure to be “in the know” with suggestions made specifically for you. LGBT Pride month is upon us, and Cox is already ahead of the game, making relevant suggestions on shows, movies & documentaries to give you the most entertaining and educational experience possible.
With up to 1,000 hours of storage on the DVR, 35,000 titles pre-loaded into On-Demand, the option to record 6 shows at once, convenient apps at your fingertips and the ability to watch your favorite shows and movies from anywhere in the house on your tablet or smartphone, what is NOT to love about the new Contour?
